Back to Comics!
I can't stop making them... and hopefully you enjoy them!
It’s been far too long, Stackers. Months. But about once a week over the course of those months, I HAVE been telling myself, “you really should post an update”. But between the other voice in my head regularly telling me that nobody will really care to read this, monthly pop culture conventions, and raising a toddler who is now walking, things for sure got away from me. Indeed, if I was going to take the time to sit down and throw words on the screen, it was going to be in the service of my stories and not in reporting from the front lines of my middle-age fandoms and freak outs.
So with that, I have a worthwhile thing to report (but you be the judge of that, as always)!
Issue 2 of ‘Paul London: Hero of the Prophecy’ is up for Kickstarter backing and pre-order! Issue 1 hit its funding goal in 4 DAYS back in February, and I’ve spent the last 7 months basking in the amazing response to our first issue, both from friends, readers, and even some of my favorite comic pros! I mean, here’s my favorite all-time X-Men artist Marc Silvestri just for starters! 12 year old me (and modern day me) is freaking out about that.
So THANK YOU for the response to issue 1!
Which brings us to this week’s Issue #2 launch, and a much, much different world. I have written out most of HotP’s 6-issue story. On top of that, I’ve written a few more comics, including the first issue of the new Super Action Man. I really can’t stop, and I think about these stories all the time. So when I looked at the tougher reality of launching Issue #2’s campaign this close to the Holidays, and in a tougher economic climate, with a ton of competition for your dollar… I was reminded by my partner Georg Kallert that we have 2-3 more books currently being finished on the assembly line and that holding up Issue #2 will back it all up! Issue #1 was a success for us, and at the end of the day, you have to roll the dice and hope that a shortfall here might be a gain down the road and vice versa… But holding up all of the projects will only lead to nothing coming out. And like I said, the stories aren’t stopping, so they need to go out the door to make room for the next!
All this to say, PLEASE check out our campaign for Issue #2. If you haven’t read Issue #1, you can add it to your order as an Add-On! The response has been awesome, but between us, I love Issue #2 even more. Tom Hoskisson’s art and storytelling are so much fun to work with, and he’s helped me “find” the book. It really feels like a celebration of those 80s VHS fantasy movies, pro wrestling, and Paul (of course). Just check out the main cover! Inspired by Frank Frazetta, right?
And as a thank you for reading this far, enjoy this 2-pager from the NEXT book, Super Action Man, aka the most patriotic, fun, and ridiculous book you’ll read next year! This is the tragic origin story of our character Razorblade, in a scene that I made up on the radio when I was 18 years old. And now it’s part of this fun, action-packed, team comic book! Look for it early next year with art from the awesome Guilherme Raffide!
Alright, I’ve stuffed your Stack enough for one go around. If you’re still reading, go and do something else, and I promise that it won’t be so long before the next entry… because I have a campaign and some comics to push!
Good Journey!
